Congratulations to the Rock Band of GJC


The Rock band of Gyan Jyoti College has secured the first position in the Inter-college cultural fest organized by Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri. We congratulate our students for this grand achievement.



Dr. Puspitaranjan Bhattacharya, M.A. (Economics) First-Class-First, M.Phil (Economics), Ph.D (Economics) has joined as the Principal of Gyan Jyoti College, Siliguri on 11th September, 2015.

He was associated with Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur since 6th of November, 1978 and later became the Head of the Department of Economics. He also performed as the Principal of Suri Vidyasagar College, Birbhum, and nearly two decades decorated the post of Principal of Vijaygarh Jyotish Roy College, Kolkata——-A post graduate college with research and development centre.

He was awarded “Siksha Ratna” by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on 4th of September, 2015.

A condolence meeting for our beloved staff member, Sri Debraj Bhowmick, will be held at college campus on 7th September, 2015. All the Academic, Non Academic staff members and the Students are requested to be present at the meeting.


The classes will remain suspended on 3rd and 4th of September 2015 for carrying out security related infrastructural and other development work.

Yustart (Business Plan Competition) is a National Level Competition to be held at Bangalore on the 25th of September, 2015 which is being organised by Young Indians in collaboration with CII.

The winners of the National Level Completion shall be awarded with prizes worth lacs and shall also be getting an opportunity to present their ideas in front of Venture Capitalists, Banks , Private Investors etc. The idea might be selected for funding and a new business may start up for the student.

Young Indians, Siliguri Chapter is organising a Regional Level Competition where Young Indians have invited B Plan ideas from colleges of Siliguri, Dooars, Sikkim and Darjeeling. The last date of submission of ideas is 20th July. Interested candidates should contact the Teacher-in-charge within 18th July.

Having started in 2005 at the initiative of the Vivekananda Academic Foundation, an enterprise of eminent personalities of Siliguri, the college has immense pleasure in announcing that the vision with which it had started has reached its peak. About two thousand students have graduated from this college and are well placed in life. The college seeks to impart education by inculcating in the students definite career goals.
